The Raffaello is a 4-star, boutique hotel located close to Magnificent Mile in downtown Chicago. It's gorgeous rooftop lounge, Drumbar, is on the 18th floor. The other weekend I took one night staycation there, just to catch up with myself and take some time out. I'm really starting to appreciate the concept of the staycation. It's a nice way to relax when you don't necessarily have the time or budget for an entire trip.

I and a few other foodie friends were lucky enough to enjoy some cocktails from Drumbar's new spring concept, featuring drinks inspired from different locations around the world. The menu takes the form of a cute little passport and includes places such as Mexico, Scotland, Thailand, and Maine. Behind the bar, Hayden Miller does an excellent job crafting each cocktail to perfection. My favorite was the Mexico, pretty with a definite spicy kick: Jalapenio infused tromba blanco, blackberry, lemongrass, and grapefruit. We also had cupcakes from Smallcakes, Firecakes donuts, and macarons from Velvet Desserts. You can't really go wrong with booze, dessert, and a beautiful rooftop setting.

Later that night I returned to my room...all to myself! What do I do now? The answer was simple: it was time to RELAX.

I took a shower under the amazing waterfall shower heads in the Rafaello's bathrooms, then put on comfy PJs and buried myself in a mountain of pillows and fluffy bedding. I turned on Animal Planet and the Travel Channel and watched Hazel Auden prove his manhood by deep sea fishing in a canoe in Primal Survivor. I munched on macarons and leftover pizza. The hotel was quiet and peaceful...I was a happy little panda. :)

Good night. :)

The next morning I slept in, before discovering the rooms also have Keurigs with Starbucks coffee. Each room also has a little kitchenette and mini bar, by the way. I drank some coffee in bed, simply enjoying the peacefulness before getting up for the day. After making my way downstairs I had some time to kill so I enjoyed some mini donuts and orange juice from the Glazed and Infused cafe.

All in all, the Raffaello Hotel is a charming spot to stay in if you ever find yourself in the area. There is also a restaurant within the hotel if you don't feel like venturing out for dinner. Drumbar is a beautiful place to enjoy delicious drinks on the rooftop, and I'll definitely be back this summer!
