I was first introduced to Kitchfix at a wonderful dinner hosted by Fab Food Chicago on the gorgeous Roof Crop event space. Kitchfix is a meal-delivery service that features Paleo, gluten-free, dairy-free, anti-inflammatory and organic dishes that in the Chicago + suburb area. All ingredients are as locally sourced and good for your body as possible. Awesome! The food is  delicious, especially THE KITCHFIX GRANOLA THOUGH. Seriously...I think I am in LOVE with the Kitchfix Granola. It’s nut/seed based and just waaaaaay too easy to eat an entire bag in minutes. Um, not that I would know. Cough cough.

When I think of meal delivery services, I usually think of dinners. What’s great about Kitchfix is besides lunch and dinner options, they also have a nice range of breakfast items, even ones you can take on the go. This is perfect for me because I like breakfast. Breakfast is tasty. And I can become sad and hangry if I don’t get it.

But...I also like sleep. A lot. And most mornings having more of one is often at the expense of the other. So, things I can take for breakfast on the go are great! But you wouldn’t necessarily associate these things with a meal delivery service, so I was pleasantly surprised.

So instead of lunch or dinner options, I ordered myself a slew of the breakfast items. Here’s a rundown:

Cherry + pineapple cashew yogurt

Cherry + pineapple cashew yogurt

Local Cherry Yogurt

Dairy-Free Yogurt made with Organic Cashews, Raw Honey, and Vanilla over Local Cherries, and topped with Paleo Granola

Of the two yogurts, this was definitely my favorite. But how can you say no to cherry right? Especially when it comes with a bunch of crunchy, candied nuts to mix in.

One note about the yogurts: at 380/400 calories each, these could be a meal by themselves. However I felt pretty filled after eating one and wasn’t even that hungry yet when lunch rolled around. I actually ended up eating half the cherry one after dinner two days in a row and it was perfect for a small but tasty dessert.

Coconut Pineapple Cashew Yogurt

Creamy Coconut Cashew Yogurt over Pineapple with a hint of Lime and topped with Toasted Coconut

The coconut pineapple was actually the first thing I tried after voraciously tearing open the granola packets. I have to say this was my least favorite of everything I got, but I also think I maybe wasn’t ready for the Kitchfix yogurt. The texture is thick and not quite smooth, which is of course because it’s based on cashews. The acidity in this one is also quite strong, which I wasn’t ready for either. You might think that’s my nice way of saying I didn’t like it, but…! After I got used to the texture I couldn’t stop eating it. The key is getting to the pineapple at the bottom, when you mix it with the yogurt and coconut everything comes together in a super tasty way.

Muffins!!!

Muffins!!!

Paleo Carrot Ginger Muffin

Kitchfix's Original Grain-Free Muffins Flavored with Orange, Allspice and Dried Cranberries

This little guys are DENSE! But tasty. Pepitas add a nice crunch to the soft, moist interior of these muffins. Feels almost like I’m biting into a bread pudding, I could lift scoops out with a spoon! The orange and cranberries are delicious flavors alongside the ginger and carrot. Because these are so dense and heavy, again I feel more than satisfied after simply eating one. Perfect for grabbing out the door and nommin’ on the way to the train!

This fresh pressed juice is delicious.

City Press Bloody Merry

beets, carrot, burdock root, cucumber, lemon

This was soooo good, I really liked how subtle and fresh it tasted! Sometimes with beet-based juices the beet overpowers everything else, but this wasn’t the case here. It was nicely balanced. I really want to try out other City Press juices after this.

One warning is that like all beet juices, this will stain everything! So...don’t be clumsy and spill it on your brand new faded jeans like I did.

Granolas:

Ok obviously all of the granolas are DELICIOUS. I ordered a mini pack of all of them…here’s a list of the ones I ordered. The Cocoa Sea Salt is hands down my favorite, big berries, chocolate, and a bit of salt...pretty much my dream granola haha.

Besides snacking straight from the bag, I had this granola with yogurt, milk and sprinkled on oatmeal. :)

So that’s a run down of the breakfast items and I definitely want to try the lunch and dinner items next. From what I’ve had so far at the Fab Food Dinner and ordered for delivery, everything has been delicious.

Here’s a pic of the granola with peaches and ice cream from the Fab Food dinner, btw:
